Day 3 of the Finals Week started with the Children’s Solo Rondalla Instrument Competition at two in the afternoon, CCP Little Theater. Six solo rondalla instrumentalists from Regions IV-A, XI, and XIII vied for prizes.

In the same day, 14 rondalla groups from all over the country performed to a house full of audience from orchestra to the first balcony level.

The Rondalla Competitions premiered two new works as Contest Pieces: Sonata No. 5 by Nelson Espejo, and Selections from Guiseppe Verdi’s La Traviata arranged by Maestro Celso Espejo.

Day 4 were simultaneous events at the Rizal Park and the CCP.

The Rondalla Winners and Traditional Music Groups were presented in an Outreach Concert at Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium for their Weeknights@6 program. An audience of about 400 watched and were delighted to see the local traditions of our kababayans from Luzon and Mindanao.

As this was happening, the Children’s and Adult Choir Finals Competitions took place at the CCP Main Theater. Likewise, two new pieces were premiered as Contest Pieces:

Children’s Choir: Pagmumuni (Zazen sa Papag) music by Verne dela Peña, poem by Juan Ekis)

Adult Choir: Sa Magandang Silangan by Ralph Hoffmann

The Concert of Winners, Awarding and Closing Ceremonies will be held on November 26 Sunday, 5:00 PM at the CCP Main Theater. Entrance is free and open to the public.
