The 2016 NAMCYA Workshops and Semifinals for the Mindanao Cluster was held on October 1 and 2, at the University of the Immaculate Conception Bonifacio Campus in Davao City.
Before the competitions, a whole day, room-filled Traditional Music Workshop was held on October 1, with Prof. Jocelyn Timbol-Guadalupe as Workshop Resource Person. The attendees totaled to more than 150 participants, composed of students and teachers from different regions in Mindanao.
Then, the much-anticipated competitions were held the whole of Sunday, October 2. Competitions in Youth Choir (Equal and Mixed Voices), Solo Rondalla and Rondalla Ensemble were held at the Audio-Visual Room of the UIC, while the Youth Symphonic Band qualifier was held at the Gymnasium of the campus.
The following Mindanao Cluster participants advance to the National Finals on November 22-27 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
